Housing Efforts in Downtown Santa Barbara

The Yardi brothers plan to transform a downtown Santa Barbara commercial building into housing, aiming to address the city's need for more residential units. This project, located at 12 East Carrillo Street, will convert office spaces into 14 residences, including studios and one-bedroom units. The development reflects a growing trend to adapt commercial properties for residential use, promoting urban living and revitalizing the area.

Reusing buildings to create housing is an essential part of revitalizing our historic downtown. This project and others like it are meeting a current need while also moving our city in a positive direction toward a vibrant future.
— Eric Friedman, Santa Barbara City Councilman
